Our Story & Experience

Lawrence Olson Garden Design was born from a lifetime of gardening passion. As a child in the 1980s, founder Ben learned the magic of plants from his grandfather, spending countless afternoons in a well‑loved garden, digging spuds, planting borders, and feeding birds. That early love grew into a vocation.

Early Passion & Inspiration

Armed with free seed packets, a battered watering can and sketch books filled with planting ideas, Ben’s love for nature blossomed at a young age. His grandfather taught him the importance of harmony between people and their outdoor spaces—lessons that continue to shape our work today.

Qualifications & Training

Ben formalised his passion by studying horticulture at Hillingdon and garden design at Capel Manor. These qualifications, along with years of hands‑on experience, mean you’re in capable (if somewhat muddy) hands. He is RHS qualified and constantly updates his knowledge of sustainable practices, and the latest trends that combine beauty with function.
