West Ealing Sun Trap

This south‑facing garden in West Ealing had a great aspect but its layout let it down. The owners faced steep, uneven access, no comfortable place to relax and a derelict shed. Years of neglect meant the space felt dark and unusable despite the sunshine. It needed urgent TLC!

The Challenge

Steep, unsafe steps made access difficult for one family member with limited mobility.

The best part of the garden was shaded and uneven, leaving nowhere to sit or entertain.

An old shed and overgrown beds dominated the view.

Our Design Solution

Re‑grading the site and installing graduated steps to ensure safe, accessible access.

Renovating the derelict shed and levelling the main seating area to create a sunny terrace and beautiful new home office.

Introducing a corten steel wildlife pond, providing a focal point and habitat for frogs and dragonflies.

Planting native and drought‑tolerant species to attract pollinators and reduce maintenance.

Adding concealed storage and a new entertaining space for family get-togethers.

The Result

The garden has been transformed into a tranquil sun‑kissed haven. Accessible paths and seating make it easy for everyone to enjoy the space, while the pond and wildflower planting invite wildlife. It’s now a favourite place to relax with friends and family.
